    1 Suggestion For Improvement: I don’t know~it was a good solid unit with lots of creative ideas!

    3 Things I Enjoyed: Students create a public announcement, helping students to make healthy choices, involving real-world issues that they can try to solve
    2 Key Points Embedded: Student storyboard, Assessment checklist~definitely provides accountability because there’s always a student who will do the “minimum”
    1 Suggestion For Improvement: Maybe do a role-play or Reader’s Theater so the students will see what will happen if they continue to make poor nutritional choices vs. if they start making good choices (like, 20-30 years down the road)

    3 Things I Enjoyed: Getting the students to be aware of discrimination, student choice in seeing presentations, evaluating websites

    1 Suggestion For Improvement: Don’t go too in-depth with your example so students don’t copy your work

    This fold-a-map is helpful in making the students aware that Newberry is just a small place in our world  This website also has a bunch of map and geography resources that can be adapted to any grade!

    I like the idea of using the venn diagram for comparing and contrasting.
    I know they will enjoy having their work displayed.
    Great idea to tie in the ELA standards!

    You might need to give lots of examples of simple ideas for their timelines since some may not have taken big trips to include.

    This is a great series of stories. The kids love these books and the way you are using them.
    Good idea of embedding blogging in the unit.
    The kids will be more self-directed by using the checklist.

    Work with the technology teacher to help the students with their PowerPoint projects.

    Teens need a way to develop their own identities. They need good examples.
    This is a great project for your ESOL kids.
    Including the family in their collaborative projects is a great idea!

    Consider having the students present their stories to younger ESOL stories. I think it would give them a sense of leadership.
